The goal of r/Education is to provide a community in which educational stakeholders can participate in meaningful, reflective, and thought-provoking discourse about educational policy, research, technology, and politics. We have a selection of toys at home that my son loves to play with. He has his favorites that he loves (they include cars as he is currently car crazy) but we have various other toys too. Our commitment to the ETS mission is reflected in our efforts to improve teaching and learning, expand opportunities for learners and communities, inform education and policy, and advance the field of educational measurement.
Outstanding hub! Charlotte Mason also advocated using real books instead of textbooks. Neutral policy: This aims neither at reducing nor increasing the growth of population. Also, I have a small a treat ready (usually a bit of chocolate) a bit of a bribe! The Alpha Smart has given my son a new lease of life, as writing is much, much easier for him when he types.

I was so moved by Malala’s story and seeing her on television that I just had to put something down on paper. I wish that kind of education on every living person! From encouraging higher enrollment to promoting learning for all, the World Bank Group plays a significant role in education globally.
She grumbled as she practiced her Chinese characters at the kitchen table, and she griped as she yanked on her uniform in the mornings. Over and over, she asked us to explain why she had to go to this crazy school where nothing made sense. And no matter what we said, her eyes told us she wasn’t at all convinced.
I never much cared for what the world though anyway. I am a proud confident woman who has been with geniuses and trust me when it came to real test they don’t hold a candle to my man. Psychology is the study of people’s behavior, performance, and mental operations. It also refers to the application of the knowledge, which can be used to understand events, treat mental health issues, and improve education, employment, and relationships. The subject lies at the intersection of applied, educational, and theoretical science. I have the feeling that our current pre-college 10-year curriculum is really crammed and so the need to spread subjects out over 12 years is logical. But we also need to keep accelerated education for those kids bright enough to make it. We definitely need to give more budget to public schools to afford competent teachers and facilities. I don’t mind the private schools because they are aleady competitive. Another thing is to promote blue collar mentality, business-mindedness and computer age skills such as writing softwares among our youth.
For example, a deaf child must have an interpreter with him, a blind child must be able to use a noisy braille writer and an extremely physically handicapped student may need a helper with him to deal with breathing tubes. Furthermore, some of the mentally handicapped students can be quite violent.

Instead of endless top-down mandates, these revolutionary inroads into the education system are coming from the states. Forty-two states and the District of Columbia have laws on the books allowing charter schools to operate, while half the states have some form of private school choice program. The states should continue to expand parent choice and push educational institutions to compete with each other to provide the best product, just like providers of any other service.
Everybody thought it was a great thing when computers were introduced into the classroom. Einstein did not talk until he was 3 years old and his teachers described him as mentally slow! With the internet, universal access to education is possible, but its potential is hindered by increasingly restrictive copyright laws and incompatible technologies. The Open Education program at Creative Commons works to minimize these barriers, supporting the CC mission through education, advocacy and outreach on using the right licenses and open policies to maximize the benefits of open educational resources (OER) and the return on investment in publicly funded education resources. Our work cuts across all levels of education (primary – secondary – tertiary) and sectors of industry (non-profit – corporate – government). New skills and knowledge can spark a lifetime of change. Every day, EDC’s programs in education, health, and economic development deliver life-changing opportunities to those who need them most. Crime reduction: This is another importance of education to nations. How can education reduce crime? A reader of this article may be confused when the introductory part of this page included ‘crime reduction’ as one of the educational importance to nations. People separate themselves from crime because they were taught the consequences of any committed crime. These punishments of any offense make many to detach from anything that will lead them to crime. Again, with education, people learn to be disciplined and say no to any kind of crime. Education provides employment for the masses. I do not think that any who is employed and paid well in return will have time to start thinking of one crime he will commit or the other to make money. Based on observations, countries that are more educated have less crime rates when compared with undereducated ones.

These free reading apps for kids make it a joy to get your children engaged in reading. I see how their captivating illustrations, graphics, and games draw beginning readers into a story. Children interact with letters, words, and illustrations in ways that aren’t possible with print on paper. Some of the apps include read-along stories, which are a fantastic tool to help kids develop fluency. Great lens – I love the giggle poetry from Meadowbrook (I actually applied for a job there out of collage, but alas no luck 🙂 ) and thanks for submitting some lenses to Review Central – I’ll certainly add a category for educational kids site reviews.

My oldest son is four years old and my daughter is 2 ½. They both really like to watch TV. I try to limit the amount of TV they watch, but I’ll admit that sometimes I’m thankful for the 30 minutes of peace I can get from popping a DVD into the player. Since my kids watch at least 30 minutes of TV a day, I make sure the content is educational. The DVDs listed below are some of my top choices as a parent. So while I’m cooking dinner, making a grocery list, or just needing a few minutes to myself, these are some of the DVDs my children really enjoy. Most of them can be checked out for free at your local library. I read an article about math teaching a few years back and one teacher’s comment really stood out. The teacher said that the way he’s required to teach math, it’s almost impossible for students to learn. A second grade teacher called into a radio show I was listening to and said that because of state standards she wasn’t able to spend enough time introducing fractions. As a result, she said many students went into third … Read more
