High School education is perfect in so many areas that in order to truly comprehend its greatness, one must understand each of the aspects that make it so fantastic. From the grading system to teacher salary and student eagerness to learn, there are a wide range of qualities that make the high school education system the well-oiled-machine that it is. An excellent article. This is an argument in which I frequently engage, that a degree does not make one educated, and a lack of one does not make one ignorant. Yet we are saturated with media that proclaims otherwise, and the trend of indoctrination prevails.
Based on statistics, children who are home schooled score higher on aptitude tests than their public school counterparts by a considerable margin. However, results vary depending on how involved and dedicated the parents are in regard to self-educating their children. Additionally, many people argue that children who are home schooled do not receive proper socialization compared to children who attend public institutions—although I haven’t found any evidence that supports that claim. In fact, according to an online article by Naomi de la Torre titled Are Home schooled Kids Really Lacking In Socialization, it is a myth that home schooled children are less socialized.
Let me add, that those with tertiary education and above are more broadminded and are willing to consider varied sides of an argument. People possessing tertiary education are also more liberal in outlook than those with secondary educations. Contrast child rearing styles of the educated and undereducated. Educated parents usually use nonphysical and verbal constructive methodology to correct their children while undereducated parents often use harsh physical punishments to correct their children. On a whole, people with tertiary educations and above are better people overall than persons who elect not to pursue such education.
