Wall art for kid’s rooms can do more than just decorate – it can educate. I find that posters are usually reasonable in price and easily interchangeable. As your baby grows to toddler and, eventually, enters school, your child can learn by being surrounded with updated and topical posters. From the basics of the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, cars, farm and wild animals , as well as the ever-popular dinosaurs to the elements of science, chemistry and even guitar chords. Posters are educational art tools that are easily referenced as as teaching aids. Now, don’t get the wrong idea—like the video above mentions, I’m not saying college doesn’t work for some people. Having a college degree is better than not having a degree at all. For some, they system matches their learning style and they excel. The point is, not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace. Certain teaching styles work better for some people than others and this is where the education system fails; it refuses to recognize the variations in an individual’s cognitive abilities.

The LGBTQ+ Identity: A Toolkit for Educators Collection offers a series of digital media resources to help administrators, guidance counselors, and educators understand and effectively address the complex and difficult issues faced by LGBTQ students. Some children are primarily auditory learners, others are visual, and still others are kinesthetic. Why teach them all the same? Although it is difficult in a classroom setting to completely individualize your curriculum, it isn’t that difficult to include a wide variety of activities geared toward various learning styles. And although it does take some time and thought, when homeschooling parents or tutors change their curriculum to best meet the needs and learning styles of the child, more learning usually occurs and everyone tends to be happier.

These free reading apps for kids make it a joy to get your children engaged in reading. I see how their captivating illustrations, graphics, and games draw beginning readers into a story. Children interact with letters, words, and illustrations in ways that aren’t possible with print on paper. Some of the apps include read-along stories, which are a fantastic tool to help kids develop fluency. As you can see, our educational system in the US is now sitting on the cusp of major changes that will seriously effect learning environments, cause job loss and force parents into situations that will require them to spend more money and/or time to see to it that their children become educated.
So let’s start by facing a truth that we are all aware of on some level, but usually try no to face – our educational system is archaic. It emerged in the time of the Industrial Revolution and it is designed to cater to that time of history and not current social reality. Education is still trying to grind children down to the size that would fit the needs of the industrial revolution. We can see this in the way we assign importance … Read more

I’m up at midnight writing a paper on ancient Greek’s influence on modern society. I found this site, and I am nearly crying with enjoyment. Thank you.
Sadly, and all too often, teachers make matters worse by unwittingly humiliating them in class. They make their dyslexic children’s weaknesses public by for example, asking them to read aloud, or making wall displays that show how many times-tables individual children know off by heart! Believe me my son’s name was always at the bottom of that display! Teachers … Read more
The Seattle Times Education section covers schools at the district, state and federal level. Topics include the University of Washington and other colleges; the Common Core and standardized testing; teacher pay and strikes; charter schools; school discipline; classroom teaching methods; and funding under the McCleary decision. Coverage also includes the Education Lab project. SAI was designed to replace two well established and traditional special education programs – Resource Special Program (RSP) and Special Day Classroom (SDC). These programs served students that fell within the mild/moderate disability range. Citizens, legislators, and regulators should separate the concept of public education from the monopolistic delivery system and embrace 21st-century methods of connecting students with learning experiences.
An excellent education has long been recognized as key to the American Dream. Unfortunately, the current monopolistic and expensive K-12 education system is failing our students, leaving them unprepared for college, careers, or life. Similarly, our higher education system is leaving students with higher debt burdens and fewer career guarantees than ever before.
