Education is like food and shelter. It is considered basic to one’s life. While food is for health and shelter for the body, education is for the mind. Saving money will always look good for a district’s financial officer. Although special education will receive financial support from state and national funding, they still rely heavily on local expenditures by the district. What a wonderful lens to visit and find resources for children. Congratulations on LOTD!
I had never heard of The Waldorf Method before. I’m so glad you shared your knowledge! SAI is still a very flawed program. Its effects can be felt directly and indirectly throughout the special education universe. I ask him to tell me what he wants to write. Sometimes I write it for him in his book and other times I write on paper and he then copies it. While he is copying I spell out the words.

To keep the writing minimal he wrote a poem full of his facts, which, he copied out carefully in his best cursive handwriting. I suspect that children find it easier to write poetry than adults because they (children) don’t know they can’t. The CIA World Factbook is great. I know a lot of kids now use Wikipedia, even though they should really be looking at all the footnotes for references. At one time grandparents tried to fill in the gap. After several generations, it seems the grandparents are just as bad as the parent. Thanks Dashing!
