Although one of my professors in graduate school had mentioned that exercise increases learning and improves brain function, I didn’t really believe it until I experienced it. When my children were young, I discovered that they learned better if they were being active. Instead of sitting on a sofa going over the multiplication tables, for example, it was more productive to walk down the street bouncing a ball back and forth between us as we studied math facts. I’d call out a fact while bouncing the ball to my child, and he’d respond with the answer while bouncing the ball back to me. It was fun, it got us outside for a little sunshine, we improved our brain function and learning with the exercise, and we studied the math facts at the same time!
Great read! We do the same, though our kids watch a little more than 30 min a day. One of the best and our kids fav’s is the Leap Frog DVD’s. My 4 yr old son was having trouble sounding out his letters correctly and a friend gave us an old VHS copy of this video, -Frog-Letter-Factory/dp/… He watched it four times and he was ripping through them like it was nothing. As a bonus my 3 yr old daughter watched it and she started doing the same thing. They watched it so many times I copied it to a DVD before it wore out! All of the series is great!
Without the proper tools of persuasion, you could create the next big microchip or the cure for cancer and no one would invest in your idea because you aren’t able to influence them to do so. If you can’t get others to buy in to your ideas, you will fail at reaching your goals.
The implementation of the K-12 plan in the Philippine Basic Education Curriculum is the key to our nation’s development. Though the government faces many problems as it implements the program over the course of several years, it is a necessary improvement since increasing the quality of our education is critical to our nation’s success.
Very interesting. I just graduated with an associates in IT Business Management and I’m feeling the effects of not having a bachelors. I will try to pursue that if time and life permits… Thanks for the great tips. I gave you thumbs up and interesting.
That’s amazing. I hadn’t heard of colleges establishing charter schools before. It’s a great idea that more colleges should get into. And, with the cost of higher education what it is, allowing students to do their first two years for free would really help. I’d love to see this idea spread. I’d be delighted to get my kids into a program like this. They’re 6 and 3, so who knows.
