It also provides a community where educators can exchange best practices or remix projects. It’s easier for people to think that the homeless are just lazy and prefer to live on handouts. Nevertheless, educated does not have to mean college grad. Intelligence always seeks out learning whether in an institution, in life, or self taught.

Yes. It is the responsibility of a parent to ensure a child understands what an education will do. I wonder if the children who fail or simply do not care have a parent at home to go over homework and talk about the school day. That said, the reason it is taught in school is because many parents have abdicated said responsibility, and for whatever reason, (unwillingness, embarrassment, lack of knowledge themselves), do not address the matter at home.
