The standard of educational system can simply be seen as a systematic and generally accepted level of teaching and learning in the educational institution geared towards improving knowledge and developing skills. According to Plato, such a system … must be one that can be shown to produce the highest possible perfection and excellence of the soul (laws 788 of-10). Excellent hub. I have four children in grade school now. Fortunately, my oldest is able to attend SCF Collegiate School, she started last year for sixth grade. It’s based on a European learning style. This will be her second year in it and we couldn’t be happier.
Tussin, I’m really glad you brought up statistics because it is, in one sense, at the heart of this disagreement. It is true that a marriage or relationship is statistically more likely to succeed if the couple have certain values or traits in common.
I have a great musician friend who is also a teacher who at the beginning of an academic year lets the youngsters loose in a room with a bunch of robust instruments and tells them to get on with it! No guidance, no rules, no expectations, just the awakening of fun and the desire to explore gets them going. They find out what knowledge they need to progress and that’s where he steps in with the necessary guidance. Discovery learning at its best!
is a simple website in image, but powerful when it comes to learning tools. I love how they have a particular tab for pre-K kids which makes finding the games and videos you want much easier. They teach everything from basic colors and shapes to some advanced math and reading. The games are great, but they also offer educational videos, arts and crafts projects, and books. I especially like the books because they have a button to press which reads the book to your toddler who isn’t ready to read to themselves.
In 1963, Nigeria’s population was 55.6 million. Thirty years later, it was 167 million. To track such dramatic changes in population, a census programme needs to be put into place that can collect data on on the country’s population size, distribution, growth rate, and composition.
The disadvantages you’ve described could all be attributed to your parents’ parenting style rather than to homeschooling although I do agree that (based on what you’ve said here,) they did make quite a few poor educational decisions. However, as a parent yourself, you know the incredible burden we have. We are all going to make mistakes.
