Studies have shown that people with similar educatonal and socioeconomic backgrounds have a commonality regarding dating and marriage. They tend to like and appreciate the same things. This reasoning explains why college educated, professional women are better off dating men from a similar background and/or better. It is totally unwise for a college educated, professional woman to date a blue collar man and/or a man who does not have the same level of education that she has. Many applications require an explanation for all gaps in employment. So the homeless person can either lie or tell the truth. If he or she tells the truth, the cat is out of the bag and the prospective employer will know the applicant is homeless with all of the baggage and potential for discrimination that entails. If the job applicant lies, he will eventually get caught in the … Read more
ACE and 34 other higher education associations wrote to the leaders of the House and Senate budget and appropriations committees, asking them to maintain Congress’s historic commitment” to financial aid and research in FY 2018. Our youth deserve the opportunity to complete their high school and college education, free of early parenthood. Their future children deserve the opportunity to grow up in financially and emotionally stable homes. Our communities benefit from healthy, productive, well-prepared young people.
In addition to homeschooling my son, I’m one of the organizers of a local homeschool co-op. We get together for classes once a week and enjoy such things as hands-on science experiments, recorder class, sharing the poems and stories we’ve written at home, fun writing activities, critical thinking activities, hands on activities that help us learn about various cultures, art, lunch, and of course recess.
Compliments are very unsettling to me and it makes the likelihood of me having something intelligent to say drop like a rock. I also tend to fail to understand all of the rules of social etiquette unless I can read them somewhere and even then I often fail to properly generalize them. I had nothing coherent or valuable to … Read more

I think it’s a matter of expectations. Having taken online courses and traditional courses personally, and having interacted with students and with employees with both types, there is a difference. So education gained through attending schools and colleges is not necessarily the best education or even the right education.
Not surprisingly, the Japanese students demonstrated stronger knowledge in both Calculus and Algebra. Asian students in America typically outperform other students because they are raised with a strong value for education and learning. Ken – thanks for stopping y and I hope your students do learn these things! When we stoip learning we die.

This article contains all of the philosophical quotes featured in the computer game Civilization IV. When your civilization discovers a new technology, a relevant quote pops up and is read by Leonard Nimoy. Truth be told, I enjoyed all the other reasons listed above as well—except for the research, which involves a lot of statistics and math, subjects I try to avoid like the plague. In 2008, for instance, international test results revealed that Filipinos were behind compared to other countries when we finished dead last in math.
Excellent, excellent and again I say: excellent. As one who homeschooled her children for years and only reluctantly sends them to a charter academy now (mama’s gotta work!), I well know that your assessments here are right on track. And you support your findings beautifully, by the way.
May the blessing of Almighty be with you, so that you’ll continually be a blessing to all. We have lived together for three years and I have no regrets. Education is like food and shelter. It is considered basic to one’s life. While food is for health and shelter for the body, education is for the mind. In reading this post, I have learned a few things about homeschooling. I am beginning homeschool with my oldest child in August. I have read some blogs that allude to the fact that we can teach whatever we want, but fail to mention that a lot of the things kids learn in school are required because the colleges require them. All lower education standards are set just so, in prep. for the bigger steps.
Family Life Education (FLE) is concerned with the study of attitudes and skills related to dating, marriage, parenthood, and health of a family (NERDC, 1993). It is designed to help people in their physical, social, emotional and moral development. Because the family is seen as the central focus of the National Population Programme, FLE is a necessary addition.
Working both right and left brain. Other, inferior programs only work the left-side of the brain, which is the side traditionally associated with logic and problem solving. By engaging both hemispheres, Brainetics teaches the student to use the right brain … Read more

Values like discipline, timliness and submission to authority, that we so necessary in a factory worker, are not that important to the self-employed, the freelancer or the compay staffer working from home, who form an increasing majority in all modern societies.
Studying the periodic table involves learning about the elements that it contains. When I’m teaching a unit on the table, I try to stress that the chart is not simply a collection of data but also a way of looking at the building blocks of the universe … Read more
Psychology is the study of people’s behavior, performance, and mental operations. It also refers to the application of the knowledge, which can be used to understand events, treat mental health issues, and improve education, employment, and relationships. To this end, pedagogy focused on ending bias and sexism in teaching which discouraged girls from succeeded in math and sciences. New curriculum have been developed to specifically address the specific needs, learning styles and values of girls. Further attempts to improve girl’s skills in science and math has taken an intensive approach by focusing more in depth on science and math inside as well as outside the school. It is hoped a more continuous approach will help improve girls’ knowledge and skills in science and math (Brotman & Moore, 2008).
What?!? That’s right, money alone is not enough to rent most apartments. To get into most apartment complexes in the United States, applicants must have a good credit history and have a job at which they earn at least three times as much as the monthly rent.

Controversy has raged among educators and professionals working with children with profound hearing loss about whether deaf children benefit from learning sign language. Whereas some argue that sign is the natural language of the deaf, others believe that sign may inhibit the ability to learn vocal and written language. In West Africa for example, the major centres of economic growth are located within 150 miles of the coast. Opportunities for employment either in industrial or in agricultural areas are greater along the coast where most of the capital cities and major seaports are located. It is not surprising therefore that there is a marked relocation of population from interior to the coastal areas.
You’re so right, Pathways Preschool. A warm, loving, and inspiring teacher makes all the difference. However, the school’s program must allow her to shine. If the adult to student ratio is too high or if the owner demands too many structured activities, she’ll become frustrated and defeated. There’s a huge turnover rate for preschool teachers because of the lack of respect and low wages. Parents may choose a school because of a certain teacher, but there’s no guarantee she’ll stay around.

Waldorf schools don’t encourage reading before the second grade and are slow with introducing academics. I have a friend who switched her son from Waldorf school after first grade and he didn’t read or write at all. It fits some people and the emphasis on natural wooden toys is nice if you consider it for a preschool but I am not sure about elementary school. My feelings about this school are mixed. I see a lot of snobbism among parents who sent their kids there.
I read all the comments above… I hope I didn’t miss any point. Except for the thoughts of Daniel Desembrana and comment of Cianeko (just above my posting), all other comments failed to focus on the link between K-12 and individual success or the nation’s economic progress. No one took a time to comment on the structure and content of both the traditional and K-12 systems … Read more
To answer the very first question…that began this thread. H_ll to the No. When do we have time to be innocent…we have our whole life to be boring adults. We should protect our innocent ones as long as possible…say at least until…Junior High! Then I would say H_ll yes…they need a good foundation in sex education to help give them proper info and help to safeguard their future. Because from that point on they will have working knowledge…and can make some proper decisions based on that information. And hopefully, the parents will have aided in their own strong beliefs and backings for their family to the child. Dunn and Dunn 49 focused on identifying relevant stimuli that may influence learning and manipulating the school environment, at about the same time as Joseph Renzulli 50 recommended varying teaching strategies. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Keirsey Temperament Sorter , based on the works of Jung , 52 focus on understanding how people’s personality affects the way they interact personally, and how this affects the way individuals respond to each other within the learning environment.
