Children become fluent in reading with practice, practice, practice. I’ve used these free, engaging reading games to hold their attention and keep them motivated. They are among the best methods for turning the hard work of learning to read into play. Very interesting. I just graduated with an associates in IT Business Management and I’m feeling the effects of not having a bachelors. I will try to pursue that if time and life permits… Thanks for the great tips. I gave you thumbs up and interesting.
I believe that no college and/or postgraduate educated woman should ever go with a lesser educated and/or blue collar man. First of all, they have nothing in common. The worldview of the college and/or postgraduate educated woman is more vast than that of the blue collar man. She also has more intellectual and cultural interests than he does and/or will ever have.
Business: Consumer psychologists study consumers’ behaviors to find insights that could helpful for businesses. Students will come from an array of backgrounds and have different dialects. It is important for the teacher to model Standard American English. The students will follow the teacher, so it is necessary to set a good example by using SAE. When modeling and using SAE, it is necessary to not demean the dialect of anyone else. It is important that the students know their dialect is not wrong. Students should never feel alienated for speaking in their natural … Read more
From students and teachers to administrators and employers, at ETS we provide a range of solutions designed to meet the many different needs — and goals — of partners like you. I think that is a major part of it. But we also have to allow for individual personalities. A parent can do everything right and for whatever reason have a child that will not excel and will not value education. I may be wrong but I seem to remember you complaining about poor people having large families to benefit from government hand outs.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System ( IPED s) includes information from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial aid programs. Datasets include year-over-year enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid. My 4th grade teacher, Miss Cartarphen, whom I’ve mentioned more than once, was such an excellent and creative English grammar teacher (and some subjects do require learning what is already established knowledge in order to be able to think and create more independently!). She had an uncanny ability to INSTILL that dry subject into her students and cause us to appreciate it in such a way that we simply learned to use it almost painlessly! BUT – she lacked the educational credentials and was ultimately fired from the faculty even though she had taught some of the people on the school board who fired her! Guess they missed her lessons in wisdom.
With physics, it would be difficult to do just online courses because the students need to conduct experiments to observe for themselves the effects and see theories in action. Most wouldn’t have the necessary equipment at home to do those experiments.

Over the past twenty-five years, the educational advancement made by women has been significant. The gaps for educational attainment between the genders have all but disappeared for the young women being educated today. While girls still lag somewhat behind boys on mathematical and science achievement, girls in high school average higher grades and reach higher achievement levels in reading and writing compared to same age boys. The discrepancies in achievement by subject persist into adulthood. It has been shown that women between the ages of 16 and 65 achieved higher scores on comprehension and interpretation of prose that similar age men. There were also less women (40 percent) scoring at a low level in these areas compared to men (44 percent). Consistent with finding from earlier ages, women do not score as well as men in number related subjects such as mathematics (Sax, 2008). Great Lens: I have always found that if an activity is not fun for the adult the chances are the 3 year old will not enjoy it too. Children take their love of play from those around them. All too often parents just sit the child in front of the TV and wonder why when they … Read more
We oversee the state’s diverse public school system, which is responsible for the education of more than six million children and young adults in more than 10,000 schools with 295,000 teachers. We are in charge of enforcing education law and regulations and continuing to reform and improve public school programs. As I began to get more successful in my work life, I stopped going to junior college for a while because of my work hours and the challenges college was providing. I didn’t really have to overcome adversity in my homeschool setting, so it was a coping skill I needed but had not yet obtained.
Excellent hub. I have four children in grade school now. Fortunately, my oldest is able to attend SCF Collegiate School, she started last year for sixth grade. It’s based on a European learning style. This will be her second year in it and we couldn’t be happier.
Yes, Denise, our expectations for public school teachers are unrealistically high. They cannot be everything to everybody, but we so want them to be. With this huge push for academic rigor at younger and younger ages, I see children getting turned off to reading. They’re getting instructed on … Read more

The reason I chose to study clinical psychology was a direct result of suffering from panic attacks. I was dealt a bad hand of psychologists. As a consequence, my condition only worsened. And when I hit rock bottom, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I set out to learn more about psychology—in particular, I wanted to learn about anxiety disorders and find the best treatment options.

Sometimes correspondence education is called Correspondence Courses, Extension Courses, Extended Studies, Home Study, Continuing Education, External Studies, Self-Paced Studies, Independent Studies and Distance Learning (See Reference 1). Similarly, distance education is also called Cyber Education, Online Education, Virtual Education, Technology-Supported Education, Hybrid Education and Distributed Learning. Given the plethora of educational delivery modes currently available, students often get confused over the similarities and differences between correspondence education and distance education, further compounded by the fact that there are still other online delivery modes, such as synchronous live chats or hybrid online classes, among others. BlondeNAmbitious- I think there were some good general points, but off the mark on some. I am successful, and I think ‘The Secret’ is great…those that don’t know how to use it (like the poor), will think it is a ‘Pie-in-the-Sky’ miracle, but still fail. One has to understand what the ‘Secret’ actually is, and know how to apply it (i.e. it is not tangible until you actually get it). One needs to read on the law of attraction (also part of ‘The Secret’), to understand how one’s attitute can make the difference in one’s circumstance. Lousy at business, not necessarily…lousy at finances, absolutely! Slave for … Read more
There are many assumptions about homeless people. Perhaps the most common is that all of them are too lazy to work. Having been there myself and having worked with many others in the same situation, I have to say that for the vast majority of homeless people, the assumption that they are lazy is dead wrong. In economically depressed areas in an economically recessed economy and hiring preferences (thus discrimination for the unprefered) homelessness is an outcome of unemployment, not the cause. They don’t pay 5 to 10 cents a can for recycling, or that might help. 2 cents isn’t enough. Some people want you to work for free…not food, not shelter, not trade…but as a slave. Weird world. The solution is equity in hiring.
While she had friends who were doctors, lawyers, and other professionals, he had friends who were janitors, construction workers, and laborers. Want more sociocultural and educational shocks? Many parents that choose to give their children a home-school education could use extra money to help with homeschool expenses. The costs for buying needed books, building science projects, purchasing learning material, going on field trips and paying membership costs for home-school students that many parents just can not afford the costs by themselves. Many children will benefit from special educational services to a great extent. Many children benefit so much that they no longer require services or extra support. These children are declassified and no longer require an IEP (the declassification process requires objective testing to demonstrate that the child no longer requires extra help to obtain equal access).
Teachers are not trained properly. Mostly they come to institution, deliver their prepared lecture without clarifying the concepts and then how students get the lesson is none of their business. They do not take interest in student’s matters or their personalities. They do not discuss career aspects of their subjectsTeachers promotes cramming rather than encouraging new ideas, they promote those who get good marks in exam by cramming. So those students who get degree by mere cramming of course fail in practical field. Faulty habit of cramming and the iniquitous … Read more
