That last list certainly is interesting. As a former recruiter who has read thousands of resumes, conducted thousands of interviews and hired or placed a LOT of people, I am always interested in job-hunting tips and tools. This is a very good starter list for someone looking for ideas and who has no clue where to start.

De Mille suggests that there are three types of schooling: public school, professional education and leadership education. The Thomas Jefferson method claims to be a system that trains people for leadership roles. Many children will benefit from special educational services to a great extent. Many children benefit so much that they no longer require services or extra support. These children are declassified and no longer require an IEP (the declassification process requires objective testing to demonstrate that the child no longer requires extra help to obtain equal access).
Conversely, in the poorer nations and among the poor in the United States and in first world nations, larger families are the norm. People who have large families tend to be less educated, intelligent, and affluent. They contend that children are a preordained part of life which cannot be stopped. They see no point in planning for their children. They oftentimes cannot and/or refuse to see the ramifications for their actions. They are of the school of what happens, happens as far as having children are concerned.

Education Pioneers recruits, develops, and connects professionals from diverse backgrounds to solve problems from outside of the classroom so students and teachers succeed inside of the classroom. Absolutely true! They all had an easy go education and even if they had strived hard with the books, most of their career is irrelevant to their education. Or more to say, most of them followed their heart I guess which is kind of getting drifted with today’s curriculum….but still, it’s so unfair that some of us had to toil our way in and out of things.

Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to improving people’s lives and sustainable development. Major progress has been made towards increasing access to education at all levels and increasing enrolment rates in schools particularly for women and girls. Basic literacy skills have improved tremendously, yet bolder efforts are needed to make even greater strides for achieving universal education goals. For example, the world has achieved equality in primary education between girls and boys, but few countries have achieved that target at all levels of education. There is a Waldorf school in the area and I’m considering asking for a tour to see it in action, and ask a few questions. I know from working in education that it’s one thing to espouse a certain school philosophy, and sometimes quite different seeing it in action and evaluating the benefits. Websites easily make schools sound very ideal and yet it’s hard to find schools that match exactly their ideals.

Great post! I am familiar with most of the DVDs you listed. I definitely like Sesame Street and Signing Time the best out of the DVDs in your list. My kids seem to enjoy them. Have you ever heard of MonkiSee though? It might be a little young for your older child, but the 2 year old might enjoy it. My baby loves it better than most videos I turn on. It is 30 minutes per DVD and teaches animals, colors, abc, etc… I really recommend them. 🙂 Just a tip in case you are ever on the look out for other education DVDs. Sometimes fun and educational DVDs can be hard to find. 🙂 Best to you!

Literacy is probably the single-most important part of education. Without literacy, all other learning is impossible. Literacy involves using reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing to gain more knowledge. Without the ability to do any of these skills, there is absolutely no way to acquire more knowledge. Literacy is essential for learning. It is crucial that language arts teachers are not the only ones in the school stressing the importance of literacy. While the language arts teachers may be the only ones truly teaching literacy, it is the job of all educators to facilitate literacy learning. Literacy must come before any other learning can occur, and we cannot grow as a society without literacy. You’re right Ana! If that would be the mindset of every Filipino, especially the education administrators and teachers, the implementation would be far better that what we expect. God bless you. You say that the poor view more children as ways of expenditure! That makes no sense.

With the advancements of technology in this digital age, it is really that important anymore for children to learn how to draw and read maps? Is the practice of map reading, drawing, and understanding even worth the time anymore with digital devices that contain GPS? Is map reading and drawing trending out of practice? According to an educational article, maps are still as important as ever even in today’s era of computers and GPS devices. According to the article, when kids learn maps they learn spatial reasoning skills and comprehension. Spatial skills allow kids to picture where objects are located in the speck of things. Take for example the states of Alaska and Hawaii. Most educational resources show these two states under the United States because they are part of the U.S. However, these states are not located where most text books show them. By teaching kids how to read and draw maps, they get a visual picture in their mind of where object such as these two states are actually located. According to another article, kids as early as kindergarten can learn a lot through mapping. Some of those mapping items that can be taught to children from pre-kindergarten … Read more
