New skills and knowledge can spark a lifetime of change. Every day, EDC’s programs in education, health, and economic development deliver life-changing opportunities to those who need them most. Population education is different from traditional subjects like English Language, Mathematics, etc which aim to present a body of factual information and methodologies. The aim of population education is to enable students to explore personal values, attitudes, and beliefs as well as to develop the abilities to freely choose a rational course of action. Population education therefore requires emphasizing analysis, starting from collective inquiry and leading to appraisal of issues or problems that affect the learners and their social environments.
Pro-natalist policy: aims at increasing the rate of population growth when the resources of a nation become under-utilized. is congruent, meaning that the person will be comfortable in their own skin, able to acknowledge their own feelings and the feelings of others without condescension.
Education is the key to the future: You’ve heard it a million times, and it’s not wrong. Educated people have higher wages and lower unemployment rates, and better-educated countries grow faster and innovate more than other countries. But going to college is not enough. You also have to study the right subjects.
The absence of reading culture among students, unabated spread of cultism, poorly produced handout, and more seriously the mode of admission into our higher institution contribute to this. Now some universities have started their post UME examinations. One experiences a situation where before or during an admission/examination, lazy students buy their way out to be admitted or come out with higher grades, while honest, brilliant and dedicated students are denied admission, promotion or merited grades simply because they fail or refuse to comply”. It is no longer news as earlier noted that, nowadays our young women; daughters or sisters indulge in prostitution in our higher institution as they are compelled to pay-up” with their bodies if they can’t meet up with the financial demands. It is really sad and disheartening that students can dictate their scores in an examination ever before it is sat for. They mark one gets depends largely on the amount of offer” or the money he/she pays”.
Speaking of going to China, our family traveled there for the first time just a few months ago. From camping on the Great Wall to admiring giant pandas at a Chengdu sanctuary; from hiking the terraced rice paddies in Longsheng to pole-rafting down a jade green river in Yangshuo; from eating Tibetan food by the deep blue lakes of Jiuzhaigou to ascending to the 100th-floor observation deck of the Shanghai Financial Center—we loved it all. But the highlight of our trip? Without a doubt it was seeing our daughter communicate with local Chinese people. Seeing that she could understand, and be understood, by the locals seemed nothing short of miraculous.
BBC Schools Literacy Games has a wealth of games and interactives for beginning readers. Because the site is based in the UK, pronunciations and a few of the spelling and vocabulary words will not be as familiar to American children. Also, videos on this site are only available to UK users. Nevertheless, BBC Schools educational games are favorites among most of the American students I’ve taught. Below are links to some of the most useful reading activities for Americans.
