We help state and federal governments, school districts, companies, and foundations gain insight into the ever-evolving digital learning landscape so they can successfully plan and implement best practices related to educational technology. Using a student-made board game about elements and the periodic table has several benefits. Students learn about chemistry as they create their game and as they solve someone else’s. They also practice working cooperatively if they create the game with someone else.
After reading your article, I had to comment on a part written where you wrote; Education, on the other hand, opens the mind, encourages a search for truth and develops a mind that can engage critically with many different ideas… I believe this whole heartedly. If you allow yourself the opportunity to RECEIVE fact based information, you enable yourself a better opportunity at making SOUND decisions. A conscious mind is powerful and can’t be deceived… Great topic!
I am thinking about homeschooling and looking for all sides. You have some valid points even when others disagree. There are pitfalls in regular education that I am fighting. I certainly appreciate your point of view that helps me understand the process better. We can all learn from you. … Read more
Wall art for kid’s rooms can do more than just decorate – it can educate. I find that posters are usually reasonable in price and easily interchangeable. As your baby grows to toddler and, eventually, enters school, your child can learn by being surrounded with updated and topical posters. From the basics of the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, cars, farm and wild animals , as well as the ever-popular dinosaurs to the elements of science, chemistry and even guitar chords. Posters are educational art tools that are easily referenced as as teaching aids. Good hub. Similar to what Jean Piaget defined as the end goal of education: autonomy, both in the character and intellectual spheres. Keep up the good work! Terrific article! I sometimes suspect that one of my grandchildren may have dyslexia. Saving this, sharing it, bookmarking, etc. What a useful page. Thank you for all the detailed information. I wish every teacher and parent could see this.
This was very enlightening, I bet a lot of people don’t think about the fact that homeless people have no address or phone (a big deal to many employers). Thanks for shedding some light on this! Over-scheduling children with extracurricular activities … Read more
I personally feel that to require children to go to school against their wishes or the wishes of their parents, under penalty of going to jail or losing their children, is involuntary servitude, which is prohibited by the constitution. As it stands, even parents who chose to home school are required to structure their teaching around the schools education system, which is often why parents choose to home school in the first place. IDEA classification is not permanent for all children. Children may be declassified academic performance improves. Some disabilities are temporary, and a child may no longer require services once the situation is resolved. i agree with the whole article, because it is like a crime to home schooled your children, they are missing out everything that is supposed to be part of growing up, being a teenager.
However, it is undeniable that there will be problems that arise as we implement the program, which could include a lack of budget, classrooms, school supplies, and teachers. That said, the long-term effects of K-12 education will be very beneficial to us Filipinos.

Studies have shown that people with similar educatonal and socioeconomic backgrounds have a commonality regarding dating and marriage. They tend to like and appreciate the same things. This reasoning explains why college educated, professional women are better off dating men from a similar background and/or better. It is totally unwise for a college educated, professional woman to date a blue collar man and/or a man who does not have the same level of education that she has. Many applications require an explanation for all gaps in employment. So the homeless person can either lie or tell the truth. If he or she tells the truth, the cat is out of the bag and the prospective employer will know the applicant is homeless with all of the baggage and potential for discrimination that entails. If the job applicant lies, he will eventually get caught in the … Read more
Filipinos are known to be competitive in the international community. However, our current education system hinders us from becoming even more competitive. is a simple website in image, but powerful when it comes to learning tools. I love how they have a particular tab for pre-K kids which makes finding the games and videos you want much easier. They teach everything from basic colors and shapes to some advanced math and reading. The games are great, but they also offer educational videos, arts and crafts projects, and books. I especially like the books because they have a button to press which reads the book to your toddler who isn’t ready to read to themselves.
My son and I haven’t done a cinema trip yet but we are going to go next week to see Toy Story 3. I think he’s at the age now where he will sit for long enough to be able to watch the movie and I can’t wait! Thank you for being so open and honest with your perspective on Homeschooling through your middle and high school years. It is so important to hear both sides of the issues.

Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) has expanded throughout California’s public schools over the last few years. However, this expansion hasn’t translated into overall acceptance from educators. The hybrid program promised to adhere to key goals of the Individual with Disability Education Act (IDEA), while alleviating the finances of the state’s struggling school districts. It was supposed to be the ultimate tool to prepare students with special needs to be mainstreamed with their non-disabled peers. The term education can be applied to primitive cultures only in the sense of enculturation , which is the process of cultural transmission. A primitive person, whose culture is the totality of his universe, has a relatively fixed sense of cultural continuity and timelessness. The model of life is relatively static and absolute, and it is transmitted from one generation to another with little deviation. As for prehistoric education, it can only be inferred from educational practices in surviving primitive cultures.
The tourism industry is one of the largest in terms of people who depend on it, either directly or indirectly. Brilliant exceptions to the rule. The average undereducated person does not fit into such illustrous categories. Their intelligence is extremely negligible to say the least.

UNHCR’s report finds that refugees are five times more likely to be out of school than the global average. Only 50 per cent of refugee children have access to primary education, compared with a global average of more than 90 per cent. Teachers can open up subjects, or niches within subjects, that expose your child to something a parent hasn’t even heard about. This may become the child’s passion, and could influence their vocational choice and their lifelong happiness. Teachers or guidance counselors can help children understand the college application process and what opportunities may be open to them. This might be an area that parents are not as familiar as professional educators, as they went into a different college system decades earlier – or they didn’t attend college at all. Some homeschooled students graduate thinking that college is out of their reach financially, which is not true!

The goal of r/Education is to provide a community in which educational stakeholders can participate in meaningful, reflective, and thought-provoking discourse about educational policy, research, technology, and politics. We have a selection of toys at home that my son loves to play with. He has his favorites that he loves (they include cars as he is currently car crazy) but we have various other toys too. Our commitment to the ETS mission is reflected in our efforts to improve teaching and learning, expand opportunities for learners and communities, inform education and policy, and advance the field of educational measurement.
Outstanding hub! Charlotte Mason also advocated using real books instead of textbooks. Neutral policy: This aims neither at reducing nor increasing the growth of population. Also, I have a small a treat ready (usually a bit of chocolate) a bit of a bribe! The Alpha Smart has given my son a new lease of life, as writing is much, much easier for him when he types.

I was so moved by Malala’s story and seeing her on television that I just had to put something down on paper. I wish that kind of education on every living person! Too bad it isn’t taught in schools and we have to be fortunate to find it ourselves or have a great role model! Education is fundamental to development and growth. From encouraging higher enrollment to promoting learning for all, the World Bank Group plays a significant role in education globally.
She grumbled as she practiced her Chinese characters at the kitchen table, and she griped as she yanked on her uniform in the mornings. Over and over, she asked us to explain why she had to go to this crazy school where nothing made sense. And no matter what we said, her eyes told us she wasn’t at all convinced.

Psychology is the study of people’s behavior, performance, and mental operations. It also refers to the application of the knowledge, which can be used to understand events, treat mental health issues, and improve education, employment, and relationships. The subject lies at the intersection of applied, educational, and theoretical science. I have the feeling that our current pre-college 10-year curriculum is really crammed and so the need to spread subjects out over 12 years is logical. But we also need to keep accelerated education for those kids bright enough to make it. We definitely need to give more budget to public schools to afford competent teachers and facilities. I don’t mind the private schools because they are aleady competitive. Another thing is to promote blue collar mentality, business-mindedness and computer age skills such as writing softwares among our youth.
For example, a deaf child must have an interpreter with him, a blind child must be able to use a noisy braille writer and an extremely physically handicapped student may need a helper with him to deal with breathing tubes. Furthermore, some of the mentally handicapped students can be quite violent.
