Studies have shown that people with similar educatonal and socioeconomic backgrounds have a commonality regarding dating and marriage. They tend to like and appreciate the same things. This reasoning explains why college educated, professional women are better off dating men from a similar background and/or better. It is totally unwise for a college educated, professional woman to date a blue collar man and/or a man who does not have the same level of education that she has. K12 will surely make filipino people globally competitive and employable! Hurray to the DepEd personnel for implementing this curriculum.! OK, let’s admit it. The bibliography is the ugly underbelly of research writing. It’s grunt work. But there’s a simple online tool for making this task easier. BibMe is an automated bibliography generator.
Social interaction totally depends on the family. I know families that keep to themselves 100%. We were involved in many extra curricular activities, including soccer, karate, gymnastics and dance, as well as youth group. We took outside classes, as well, in art, basket weaving, and participated in 4-H, so I think it is really up to the parents to make sure there are opportunities for their kids to interact with others.… Read more
Making a career choice these days is getting tougher, and not everybody gets a career in engineering and medicine; nor can many of us become the part of the bureaucracy élite. My daughter Tegan has never been to school but like any parent, I was anxious for her to learn to read. So when she was four years old, I gathered together some suitable books and games and away we went. Except we didn’t. She hated it. She didn’t like the level of story; she thought they were too babyish but, of course anything aimed at older children was too difficult for her to grasp. Reading lessons became stressful for both of us. Even reading aloud together was overshadowed by the ‘need to read’. So I gave up. We stopped the lessons.

There are three different ways to process and manage fear: The first two options will destroy your chances for a successful and healthy life, while the third gives you the mindset you need to use fear to your advantage.

I told everyone in the school who was willing to listen that my son was dyslexic. I told his class teacher that my son and I would be doing our homework together and that I would be supporting him in every way I could. I said that he would be drawing his homework and that I would be writing down his words, unless he wanted to write, of course.
Super lens. I love Shel Silverstein. Then again, who doesn’t? Thanks for the great links. Though, I should add, in the case of relationships, intelligence and level of education are not synonymous. So great to come across things like this that are actually informative … Read more
We ignite student curiosity and inspire educators to reimagine learning with award-winning digital content and powerful professional development. We’d read about ‘deschooling’, i.e. a period of time that allows the child to rest from all things schooly, and decided this was the best approach in the beginning. In fact, as time went on, it became our only approach and it is only now that Alex is almost 14 and Tegan almost 11, that we are attempting a slightly more structured strategy.
Hey, Tony. I saw your comment that Hubpages is a great place to learn and considering I saw you mentioning the fact that you are an educator I thought I would promote another website which helped me in school in terms of learning. ( ) is a great site, especially for kids I would say. I am not sure how or if it would help kids from other countries but for an English speaking student, from a western country, I think Sparknotes is a great place to learn and share ideas about your particular studies.

Population education is a recent innovation and, as such, is subject to various misinterpretations and misunderstandings. To many people, population education is family planning; to others, it is another name for sex education; still to many others, including teachers, it is synonymous with the teaching of demography and/or population studies. In WordWorld , words morph into the objects they name. That creates a powerful connection between the letters and the words they represent. Children are captivated by the vibrant colors and graphics, and it’s an excellent vocabulary building site for beginning readers.
is a simple website in image, but powerful when it comes to learning tools. I love how they have a particular tab for pre-K kids which makes finding the games and videos you want much easier. They teach everything from basic colors and shapes to some advanced math and reading. The games are great, but they also offer educational videos, arts and crafts projects, and books. I especially like the books because they have a button to press which reads the book to your toddler who isn’t ready to read to themselves.

Controversy has raged among educators and professionals working with children with profound hearing loss about whether deaf children benefit from learning sign language. Whereas some argue that sign is the natural language of the deaf, others believe that sign may inhibit the ability to learn vocal and written language. I’m sorry your life has not gone the way you wished it had, but everyone has regrets. Public education does not make a person immune to poor life decisions, or there would be no such thing as mid-life crisis. And public school doesn’t gurantee success in a college setting. Everyone has different learning styles and only a small percentage of students actually learn well with standard teaching practices. I imagine your parents made a lot of sacrifices to give you the education you had, believing it to be the best option. I wonder if … Read more
