I was so moved by Malala’s story and seeing her on television that I just had to put something down on paper. I had many of those same problems, but I was NOT homeschooled. I think you give public school far too much credit. It does not mean you will learn to get along with others, be able to write a paper according to a teacher’s wishes or get a date/get along with the opposite sex. You get out what you put in, no matter what your educational path.
While the left argues that our ailing public education system can be fixed with ever-greater quantities of taxpayer dollars, the more than $600 billion we currently spend nationwide reflects a large increase in funds over the last 30 years, in exchange for total stagnation – or worse, declines – in achievement. On the college level, subsidies meant to help college students struggling to pay tuition have instead caused prices to skyrocket well above inflation.
Oh, yes, the acquaintance taught her daughter to only date highly educated, professional men and not to make the same mistake that she did. People, wake up to reality! In this postmodern and computerized society, highly educated, professional women clearly do not want an undereducated, nonprofessional and/or blue collar men, she wants someone from a similar background whom she can relate to! She wants a man that she can respect, not look down upon! To suggest otherwise is totally absurd to say the very least!
With occasional celebrity appearances, even parents can be entertained. It’s funny to see a star from your favorite TV drama singing and dancing around with a bunch of muppets! Parodies of adult TV shows are also featured to keep parents laughing. Overall, Sesame Street gets five bright shiny stars for being a show that’s educational and fun to watch at the same time.
Homeless people are not lazy. The hypocrites that wrote this page obviously don’t understand that many of the homeless have serious mentall illnesses and some have addictions. You have to be pretty creative to survive on the street. It is a lot of work to stand on a corner peddling for dollars or wash cars to support the choice medication that keeps you warm. There is never a moment a homeless person is not looking over their shoulders and mostly they are protecting themselves from being kicked or hit by society types who don’t understand why they are homeless! If getting job was easy in today’s society – you wouldn’t being looking to lock people out of employment who have survived layoffs during Recession years.
Yes, I am a sociologist and $%#@! proud of it. What I am presenting is commonsense. I am an highly educated professional woman and I would stoop to go with an undereducated, nonprofessional man-yeah, right! I am laughing heartedly right now as I am eating my sushi and drinking sake!
